Unemployment hits the worst off in the nation's capital

States such as Nevada and California receive a lot of attention as they struggle with unemployment rates of 13% and 12.4% respectively, but we hear less about the nation's capital city that is struggling with 12.1% unemployment. Only four states measured an actual decrease in unemployment in December, but in Washington D.C the jobless rose from 11.8% to 12.1%, now over 2% higher than the national average which remained unchanged last month and almost double its neighboring Virginia's 6.6%. In Ward 8 the unemployment rate is said to be as high as 28.5%.
