Although this year may be a break from the norm, every holiday season usually sees New York City overrun with tourists and shoppers alike. A few years ago toilet paper company Charmin decided that this density of people in such a small space was the perfect scenario for advertising, and so set up additional restrooms in the busiest areas of Manhattan.
This may seem like a silly idea, but it was no laughing matter for the hundreds of people who applied to be "bathroom ambassadors" for this years holiday season. With job opportunities thin on the ground, the offer of $10,000 for six weeks work caught the interest of many job seekers. There was plenty of competition for the 5 coveted positions and applicants went all out, turning up in fancy dress and toilet paper outfits to try stand out from the crowd.
Successful candidates will start work in the bustling Times Square on November 23rd this year and will serve to entertain passers-by and users of Charmin's complimentary facilities.
