    Journalism is the one of the most exciting career for adventure loving people everywhere. Media and Journalism generates a large number of job openings and is thriving to grow multifold with its vast potential.

    Journalism as a profession has gained a lot of popularity in India. With more and more investment pouring into this sector, media, journalism and newspaper jobs in India are on the rise and among the most sought after jobs.

    Different colleges and universities offer various under-graduate and post-graduate courses on Journalism and Mass Communication. The tenure of these courses is generally from one year to two years, depending on the nature of the program.

    Journalism jobs have diversified into sub categories of print, audio-visual and electronic journalism. A student may try the options, which include various newspapers, TV channels, Radio stations, Periodicals and magazines, Press information bureau, Central information service, Websites. Many also work as freelancers and sometimes on a part-time basis. Job profiles also include Reporter, Correspondent, Sub-editor, Copy Editor, Sports Editor, Feature Writer, Investigative Reporter, Proofreader, Special Reporter, Photographers, and Cartoonists or Illustrators.

    A media person, especially a journalist should have the qualities and personality traits such as the flair for writing, acute knowledge of current affairs, inquisitiveness, sharp memory, physical fitness, good command over the language, ability to judge neutrally, willing to work unearthly hours, knowledge of regional languages and empathy.

    Salaries in print media are usually lower than those in the electronic media. A trainee reporter may receive payment between Rs 5000 to10000 per month. For agencies, the Wage Board has determined a salary of Rs 7500 to 8000 per month. Special correspondents earn around Rs 17000 to 30000 per month.
